josm freezes after downloading an area via a remote link

• I am not sure, if it is a core or a remote link bug.
• The error doesn't occurs every time using a remote link.
• Download, displaying the data and zooming to the bbox works great.
• JOSM freezes without any message at the console.

• The freez is bevor a given element is selected by JOSM.

Do you have a WMS layer active? I have noticed that this freezes JOSM apparently due to the massive zoom-out (happens most notoriously when downloading a relation and JOSM zooms out to show the whole world). Setting the WMS layer to invisible before attempting the download works around this behavior, but I agree that this needs to be fixed.
