Validator: Incorrectly warns of "similarly named ways"

Description
Running the validator in most of the US results in many complaints of similarly named ways like:
North Daisy Avenue, South Daisy Avenue
It should ignore cardinal direction prefixes.
(Yes, we need a better fix for these awful, now expanded prefixes, but that doesn't seem to be going anywhere)

Similarly, it warns of these being similar:
5th Street, 6th Street
Leading digits should be ignored.
Also, the Validation Errors list always shows just the first name followed by ",...". It would be nice if it showed at least as much of the second name that will fit.
