#5007 closed defect (wontfix)
Minimizing panels isn't (correctly) reversible

Description (last modified by )
If the user had manually changed the size of any of the right hand side panels, and they minimize one of the right hand panels by mistake, they can't revert that action easily and in full: unminimizing the same panel leaves all panels with a modified size, and they have to be (again) resized manually.
It's quite easy to click on the panel title bar when one wanted to click the line just below it. Workaround could be that only clicking the leftmost downward triangle button would minimize the panels, not the whole title bar.
Ui actions should be reversible.

Still happens with version tested-4279.
The original description was wasn't verbose enough, so I've modified it to mention that this is an issue when the user has manually changed the size/height of the side panels. Which I'd guess many do, for example to give more space to the properties panel than to the other panels.

I can't reproduce this with the current latest (r4383).

4 screenshots describing how minimizing and restoring one side panel changes the size of all side panels

That's strange. I can minimize and unminize a variable amount of panels in any order and after returning to the original state all panels are the same size again. Even adding and later deleting some panels won't change this.
I tested this with
Java version: 1.6.0_26, Sun Microsystems Inc., Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM
Operating system: ubuntu 10.10

1st on the left: default size.
2nd: manually resized side panels to convenient sizes.
3: properties panel minimized.
4: properties panel restored. red dashes show how the sizes have changed
This is Windows 7 and Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_23-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 19.0-b09, mixed mode),
and was something like java 1.5 and windows xp when I first reported this.

Confirmed on JOSM 4383, java version "1.6.0_26", Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_26-b03), Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.1-b02, mixed mode), Gentoo linux

That's a known issue. Nobody proposed a possible solution until now. As the panels always take 100% of the space size changing must occur when panels are added or removed.

Can't reproduce (Version 6064)
