I had the same issue 2 days ago, updating from version 27.. . I could solve it by moving my old preference files and starting with an empty preference directory.

Maybe. I have to take a look, but I am not at home right now ( might take 2 more days).

This machine does not have a internet connection -> have never entered a password.
