Description
In areas which contain many GPS traces, the "Downloaded GPX Data" layer can be an horrible mess - especially where many of the traces are low-quality. Only showing the ones that look trustworthy, or hiding the haphazard ones would make tracing easier.
In the current version of JOSM, when hovering the mouse pointer over the "Downloaded GPX Data" item in the layers list, a list of GPS traces appears with the user for each one. This list should contain a checkbox at the beginning of each entry, so that GPS traces can be included or excluded individually.
In addition, in the main map frame, hovering the mouse pointer over a GPS track should display its properties along with a control allowing the user to hide it. In that case, if he wants to display it again he can use the list in the "Downloaded GPX Data" layer item.

Hmm, JOSM can't know the user or even individual traces. Do you use some plugin (directdownload?)
