#3484 closed enhancement (fixed)

Allow setting keyboard shortcuts for specific presets

Description (last modified by jose1711)

In configuration you can add specific items from presets to toolbar, but you cannot specify any keyboard shortcuts for them.

Please enable assigning keyboard shortcuts to specific presets.

(I'd like to have some keyboard shortcut for "one click bridge" for example)

A number of people seem to want this. It would definitely save a ton of find-and-click work with the mouse.

Maybe some multikey shortcut with freed single key can be introduced? Like T-W (wood) T-h1 T-2 etc.

This can solve the problem of free shortcuts for presets, but then some key assignment system for presets is needed. The assignments are too specific for each user to make them global.

We need something like "RightClick on preset menu item - context menu - assign shortcut" and/or additional field in preset chooser dialog.

Actually, "F3 - preset name - Enter" works like a shortcut now, this is one of the reasons why no one want to introduce separate shortcuts for presets. Maybe this dialog should appear on T press showing only "favorite" presets with some short 1-2 letter annotations and close automatically when preset code (1, 2, w, h1, h2, ... ) is entered.

What do you think?

More helpful would be to allow assigning shortcuts to toolbar actions (i.e. presets and searches and ...). If you need a preset that much, that you have a shortcut for it, then adding it to toolbar is not so much.

Adding shortcuts for actions (but not for not submenu items) on toolbar will not be be very hard... Then we can add context menu or button "add to toolbar" in presets chooser dialog.

In 5954/josm:

fix #3484: allow setting keyboard shortcuts for specific presets and other toolbar buttons
(preset groups and custom searches are also supported), context menu item "Edit shortcut"
