Slippymap maximum zoom setting not workigg

For about a few months the maximum zoom setting is not working. Currently JOSM 1788 with plugin 16294
Max zoom is i.e. 2, and after setting it to 13 up to 18, this setting onl works until you don't zoom in the map. After doing so you may end up totally randomly with low walues (around 3 ... 6 or even high negative values. Probably after zooming the map in and out.
Setting the value to somewhere between 13 and 18, closing the window, closing JOSM and start new doeesn't help. You can recognize again a value of somewhere between 2 and 7 in most cases.

This leads to deleting the leyer immediately after fetching data, Because the white background in the low levels is not even absolutely useless, but you can't really see anything. I run it on MAX OS, if this helps.
