#2693 closed enhancement (fixed)

Setting to disable unitentional moving of complete ways

Reported by: PHerison Owned by: team

Keywords: setting disable move way Cc:

Description (last modified by olejorgenb)

Some of us like to disable moving of complete ways or move ways only if you leftclick the way AND hold a special key (eg Alt or Ctrl).

Background information:
Most of the time I like to add a new node (little cross
between 2 nodes) or move a node of a way. In 1 of 10 actions I
unintentionaly move the whole way. This is not realy a problem because
of the Undo-Function but it disturbing my workflow.
Also moving a complete way is a very rare action (in my normal daily
work). Most of the time I only move a groupe a nodes of a way because I
don't want to move the connection with other nodes.

This topic has already been discussed in [josm-dev] (http://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/josm-dev/2009-June/003038.html) and [Talk-de] (http://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/talk-de/2009-June/046768.html).

I think the unintentional moving of ways could easily prevented by giving the user a feedback before he is about to do something in the first hand. In this case, changing the mouse cursor would be easier than adding new shortcuts: #2411

Was this implemented? The small hitbox around the "+" to create a new node midway in a section is driving me crazy. Simply disabling moving ways altogether would make it much less painful, but maybe enlarging the hitbox would be the best option.

Replying to olejorgenb:

enlarging the hitbox would be the best option.

The hitbox is already bigger than the "+". You can increase it further in the advanced settings under mappaint.node.virtual-snap-distance.

Thanks! :) I was searching through the advanced settings without finding any obvious, but missed that one.
