Description
There is this DTM https://josm.openstreetmap.de/wiki/Maps/Austria#Tiris:DGMTerrainmodel in the Wiki. It fetches e.g. this tile:
There is a nicer one, same location:
Can the single light source image get replaced by the multi light source one? Should there be a new entry?
BTW: The id of all the Tyrol sources misspells tiris (it says tigris instead.) Is that worth correcting?

The id must be unique. Anything else is not important. Thought somebody surely will fix typos, so it is better to do it right :-)
When changing the id, add <oldid date="2025-01-01">...</oldid>
so JOSM can match the entries.

Thank you. I did not look that far down :) I went with adding, the single direction light makes it easier to see where there is up and where there is down but the multi offers much more detail. Both work in the browser:

I named the new source "Tiris: DGM (Terrain shading)". It appears in JOSM on my local machine in the right menu path. In German this might read "Tiris: DGM (Geländeschummerung)". I do not see that here - https://translations.launchpad.net/josm/trunk/ Can I add the translation somewhere else?

Ich war nicht sicher, ob Schummerung passt, da dies ja eine spezielle Art der Darstellung ist. Deswegen habe ich Schattierung gewählt.

If the license is compatible you can add and/or update the backgrounds yourself using the "edit" button on the bottom of Maps/Austria, see wikitr:Maps for instructions.
As long as the old sources are still working and are useful for, e.g. comparing it with the better version, I would rather add than replace. Maybe, consider to add a general entry with
?request
that the user is able to choose the source from a list.Unfortunately, I am not that familiar with the use of
id
and the advantage or disadvantage of renaming it and if a typo is worth a change. Dirk: Can you tell us more?
