option to disable (reduce) log to stdout

It should be nice to have an option to disable or drastically reduce the output to stdout.

I use Linux Mint and it's application launch menu redirect stdout to /var/log/syslog and with JOSM it write thousands of lines (josm actions and all imagery tiles url ...).
