Try reinstalling. Maybe something got corrupted on download. Doesn't happen here with the openSUSE package r18907 on Tumbleweed.

Reopen when still persisting. In this case add more information (e.g. how did you install the software, start it, ...).

There is no "installation" that I could possibly do. It's just download-and-run.

Purged all the old .mss files that made it to ~/.josm one way or another
and re-hooked up the P2 style to point to https://josm.openstreetmap.de/josmfile?page=Styles/Potlatch2&zip=1 . All good now.
