#23317 new enhancement

Show direction for images linked from .gpx files too

Reported by: mnalis Owned by: team

Description

When I open georeferenced .jpg file via File / Open it shows as camera icon, with grey direction triangle pointing in the direction the camera was facing (if such information is present in EXIF headers, of course)

However, when images are not manually open via File/Open but instead pulled as POIs from .gpx file, they have different camera icon, and direction triangle is not present.

I would like to suggest to direction triangle is shown on them too, as it is very useful (and trying to workaround by loading them both via .gpx and manually via Open is very tiresome, and leads to bugs like #23316).

E.g. in this picture manually opened picture (circled in red on right part of the screen) has direction triangle, while one from .gpx (circled in red on left part of the screen) doesn't (even if Direction: 142 is present in EXIF as show by red arrow in picture details window)

mnalis: Can you please upload a sample gpx track?

Sure. It is the same gpx file as specified in #23316, i.e. this gpx.

It was taken by OsmAnd default "Trip recording" and "Audio/video notes" plugins.

I.e. in OsmAnd one enables recording of tracks and then take a photo (e.g. this jpg - in my case using OpenCamera, which puts GPS and direction information directly in .jpg EXIF headers), and OsmAnd will add the <wpt> entries with <link> pointing to those .jpg files.

The video from that issue also shows how manually opened .jpg file has a direction triangle (e.g. at 00:00:27), but images linked from gpx file do not (e.g. at 00:00:18).
