Avoid changing the zoom/view after loading a file

Is there a setting/override which would let me stay in the current view/zoom after loading a file?
Very useful when working in one particular area (otherwise it can be difficult to locate the area again)..
Also, if the file is large, this would avoid the delay to display all of it.

It would also prevent large number of requests to various WMS services when it suddenly zooms out.

I only find download.location.zoomtodata and download.zoomtodata.
How about a new checkbox in the open file dialog to set resp. disable zoom to data for files?

Edit: on the second thought, how would it interact with drag-to-open functionality?
Would dragging a GPX in JOSM use whatever was the last selected behaviour in the open file dialog?

I see. Guess we need both. One default setting to work with drag and drop and an additional option for the file dialog and remote control. With all the zoom actions in mind, the default setting, at least as advanced preference, would be the first step, in my eyes.
