    1 Actually JOSM has builtin tools to "produce" a black-white map on-the-fly.  Use the normal Carto Standard layer (colored) and then used desaturate tool from the layers menu (there is a generic slider for color saturation of imagery layers).  However, someone heavily depending on this will have to move the slider anytime the layer is added to the layer list - there is currently no way to store this in the preset, imho.
