Credential windows doesn't load when GUI drawing is under pressure

I'm editing on a high resolution screen and when my editing session has gotten old and full of data JOSM becomes very slow.

Impatiently I've already created a node in the editing windows before the credential windows was popping up:

Now it doesn't load, can't be closed and won't give back focus to the editing window.

What should I do?

I guess you ran out of memory. Usually, this can happen on the validator run before upload. There should be a blocking window about the problem.
