Description

Opening JOSM start page in german language version JOSM, the first line of the posted "news" links to a survey "running until February 14th".
I had yesterday an interview with the students running this survey and they stated the data evaluation is nearly finished and they do only some final interviews with some people with additional information. So any new survey participants would have not much use.....

For Evaluation: OliAdo <m-917944-bf1cfe@…> (one of the students running the survey)

first time I am annoyed by OSM IT people. "wont fix" without giving any reason is no "solution" in any way (!!!)
You are accepting alot of people to invest their time into a survey which will not include this data anyway. Not sure if i will reporrt any other issues if this is handlet this way....

I don't know why Vincent closed the ticket, but I'd done the same. Everywhere in OSM world this survey is announced to go till mid of February. You tell otherwise and as prove present some strange e-mail address. That's highly unlikely, as any survey stopping early would make the survey useless. I consider you to be a troll.

Hi Andreas,

I think there might be some confusion here. The survey mentioned on the start page is being run by the OpenStreetMap Foundation, and not by students. It will indeed run until 14 February. You should take part :).

Maybe you were thinking of another survey?

Replying to stoecker:

I don't know why Vincent closed the ticket

Well, same reasons as exposed by Guillaume and you:

  • the survey is advertised everywhere up to 14th February, and I saw Alan still promoting it recently
  • I saw nowhere that students were involved
  • a ticket with a title in German irritates me from the start: it means that the one would created it did not follow the simplest rule which is to use English to communicate with us

The "won't fix" seemed so obvious that indeed I didn't take time to explain, I should have.

Hi,

i gave you an email adresse to verify my claims. You obviously did not even use it.
Then you had been able to verify his is a student work.

But the worst ist to come; How do i even dare to use a german language headline !!!! Maybee only by accident?
"We" do only "communicate" in ENGLISH!!!! Before i had the idea it was a international and multilangual project in the first place and english is used simply because many people more or less can communicate in english. Most people on earth do not, by the way.

Because the contents of the ticket itself was in english, this attack was unnecessary and unworthy for a community project.
Now i am not only annoyed, but irate.

By accident JOSM crashed today 3 times and the software liked to send a error message with the same ticketing window.
Have i reported? Certainly not. Maybe i get the next response because of not correctly filling the form, because of bad endlish ot other reaseons.

PLEASE reconsider the style of communication "It's not what you say, but how you say it."
With the style shown you untermine any collaboration by members.

No why should we? This survey is from the OSMF and was added by a member of the OSMF which is known to us. What should contacting a strange e-mail address help?

After also looking at your OSM member page it seems that you should either get some anger management courses or stop trolling. Only you can decide which of the two is the case.

Maybe you then should attend a course in adequate communictication.
"Anger management" is by the way not at all targeted at refraining from articulating rigthful anger. E.g., because the oposite side thinks to hve the higher ground and the only "correct" position. And can therefore refrain from normal forms of communication.
Am I smashing your car or going at yout throat? No. I try only to make very clear, that I do not accept your way to communicate at all.
And your last offensive mail confirmed this.
Normally I am really not very prone to conflict, but your behavior is simply inadequate.
