Description

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. tapping on place outside a way

What is the expected result?

unnecessary nodes being created

What happens instead?

have to undo a lot

The first click changes to draw mode, the second adds a node. What's the problem with that?

I only know one situation where this is a problem: A "bouncing" mouse which produces too many clicks. Do you mean this?

Maybe the Mappaint style Admin_Boundaries makes this more difficult.
Do you see that a way is highlighted when the cursor is close to it? Only then a mouse click will select the way.

This is not much memory for JOSM especially with all these plugins installed.

I cannot reproduce on Linux without any plugin. Select mode stays and the only way I can add nodes is using the cross in the middle of a segment.

I wonder if "tapping on place outside a way" means that a tablet is used? Is it even possible to use JOSM on such a limited computer?

And - IIGTR - it is a 32 bit Java on a 64 Bit system. Should be changed.

Ah yes, with a real mouse device I also cannot reproduce this. My comment:1 was tested on a laptop with a mouse pad. So, this is in fact different and should be improved.

Status: new → closed

It seems the Look&Feel expert preference modeless=true triggers this. Look for "Modeless working (Potlatch style)" in the The Display tab. It is false by default and was set to true on my laptop, that's why I could reproduce this.

Modify Ticket

Change Properties
Set your email in Preferences
Action
as closed The owner will remain team.
as The resolution will be set.
The resolution will be deleted. Next status will be 'reopened'.

Add Comment
E-mail address and name can be saved in the Preferences .
