unclear error message

Hi. I just worked on the waterway of the river Ljungan. In the process I unglued it from the admin boundaries which created duplicate nodes.
Afterwords I wanted to glue all the waterway pieces together and got the error "unable to glue the nodes together to one long string".
Could we improve this error and perhaps offer to fix the duplicate nodes or at least point them out?
After running the validator and fixing the duplicate errors there there were still undetected duplicates left to manually fix (I found them via the warning: way end node near other way).
