A closed way with junction=interchange like ​Autobahnkreuz Stuttgart should be interpreted as area. Currently it is interpreted as closed polyline.

junction=interchange is used only 244 times global, most of them in south germany. It is not an established tagging schema.

junction=* without highway=* is an area.

junction = interchange was added to the wiki without a proposal or vote and was immediately used by the creator to create facts
