#18983 closed enhancement (worksforme)

Is there a Presets test site/program?

Reported by: Allroads Owned by: Allroads
Priority: normal Milestone:
Component: External preset Version: latest
Keywords: test presets Cc:

Description

Making a new preset ( a long proces) in for example notepad, saving the file or as a zip including the images.

You want the JOSM that you use to be clean, not all the presets testfiles you make or just wanna have a look in wiki presets example

It there a possibility to check a preset on a website or other program?

Just to see how the toolbar element looks like, how the popup looks like.
Looking for a failure. Or to see how others, a wiki preset looks like.
By just uploading the file.

In Josm you need always restart the program.
And always install first, just for a look and then delete, restart again.

This is inconvenient.

You shouldn't need to restart JOSM anymore when you change presets.

See #18381.

It seems like that is your major problem, right? I.e., if you didn't need to restart JOSM, you wouldn't have an issue.

Am I understanding your bug report properly?

(And, as far as I know, there aren't any third-party sites for testing presets.)

It was a question not a bug report.
For a year ago I made a preset, that I want to expand heavely.
This was the problem then, when I made that one.
I should try it now.

Thanks for the info.

tagging-preset-tester plugin works for years now with reload option and error message if the parser fails.

The new core feature is nice and only a reload option and the own testing dialog is missing to replace the plugin.

Without using the plugin you need to trigger the reload by e.g. renaming the preset in the preferences.

Oh, I had a reload button in mind.

Do you mean the current state or a possible enhancement?

One of several enhancement for the TaggingPreset tab. Compared to Rules and Styles it is not offering much. Like reloading Presets from server/file or reordering the presets to get a different order of groups.

The reload button is already available for rules, styles and presets. It just doesn't effect the local files. For rules and styles this is not needed though as they reload automatically when changed external.

Last time, I had problems with caching/mirroring tagging presets and no way to force JOSM to reload but to delete the mirror in advanced preferences which asked for a restart.
