#18321 closed defect (duplicate)

Unable to insert text in input boxes

Reported by: pangoSE Owned by: pangoSE
Priority: normal Milestone:
Component: Core Version:
Keywords: template_report Cc:

Description

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. open a big osm file >2mb in josm and change some tags (say all natural=water in stockholms län)
  2. suddenly your input is not received and you cant select in text boxes
  3. restart is the only thing fixing it

I'm sorry I cant narrow it down any further. I experienced it multiple times when working on output from osmfilter in JOSM.

What is the expected result?

What happens instead?

Did you try a newer java version like 11?

Please try to categorize the issue further, nobody else reported such issue so it has to be linked to your environment:

  • hardware? can you try another machine?
  • OS? You seems to use a unusual Linux distribution. Does it also happen with Debian/Ubuntu ?
  • Java? As said, please try also Java 11
  • other software causing a conflict?
  • window manager?

Only you can find the root cause. Once it is identified, we can know if we have something to do or not.

Maybe a duplicate of #13160?

I use parabola GNU/Linux and I'm happy to hear I'm the only one having this issue. Will try upgrading java first.

Thanks for the tips. :)

I'm aware.

I recognize everything there. So I guess you are right. Note that the drop down toggle both in the Tag input box (ctrl+a) and search box (ctrl+f) still work (and correctly update the content of the input box) but input/selection is impossible.
