Tried to load GPX data, when nothing happened and JOSM seemed frozen, decided to close JOSM -> it crashed

Not enough memory is allocated to JOSM to run properly. Please uninstall your 32-bit Java Runtime and install the 64-bit one (Windows x64), it should solve this problem.
