#16233 closed enhancement (wontfix)
Say if valid file valid
Reported by: | jidanni | Owned by: | team |
---|---|---|---|
Priority: | normal | Milestone: | |
Component: | Core validator | Version: | |
Keywords: | Cc: |
Description
- Follow the instructions in https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/JOSM/Validator with an already valid file.
- Upon clicking the checkmark, nothing happens.
- Now click the checkmark 20 times.
- With a quick eye, you might notice some box appearing and disappearing in the middle of the screen. But with newer hardware, you wont even notice any box.
So at least print a message: Valid data, and be sure it is visible to the user.
Don't erase it thinking he saw it, as he wont on newer computers.

Experienced users would know that if nothing happens, that means the input is valid.
However first time users cannot tell if the validator is even working, in this case where their first trial was an already valid file.

This is only more work for us and translators, I don't think this is worth it.
The progress indicator is a progress indicator and thus only visible during operation.
We could maybe add such an "go away" notice on the map saying that no validation error was found, although that's such a rare case, that I'm not sure if it is worth the effort.
