#1610 closed enhancement (fixed)

allow to actually cancel actions

Description

most actions that involve connecting to some server allow cancelling. unfortunately, there seems to be no hard abort or even a timeout for some.
for example, i attempted to download landsat imaginery using a slow/flaky internet connection. after this had stalled for some time, i pressed 'cancel'.
the popup changed text to "aborting", ad has been staying like that for some 15 minutes.
given that i have quite a lot of changes not yet uploaded, that makes me sad...

can reproduce not-able-to-abort condition here in revisions

of JOSM with

wmsplugin version 8721 and Landsat WMS service

but not verified for other WMS sources like OpenAerialMap.org (i.e. reproducable timeouts with HTTP server response code 500), so may depend on WMS server capabilities and/or interaction of wmsplugin with certain WMS servers (what drives me to change the component property selection of this ticket now)

tested at two different Debian GNU/Linux 4.0 (stable, etch) systems

Does this still apply? WMS downloads in background and displays an error tile if it failed downloading the tile 5 times – there's no cancelable dialog involved.

downloading indeed has changed, so let's consider this fixed :)
