Inconsistent count of nodes, ways and relations

What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. Load this area ​https://www.overpass-api.de/api/xapi_meta?*[bbox=3.47,43.31,3.49,43.32] (Note the problem with the ] is a bug in the wiki.)
2. Select all objects (ctrl-A)
3. Note the selection panel says 24102 nodes, 4135 ways and 42 relations (with current data)
4. Hover over the name of the layer in the layers dialog

What is the expected result?

The tooltip gives the same number of nodes, ways and relations

What happens instead?

The tooltip says 24435 nodes, 15286 ways and 45 relations

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if possible.
