Reported by: jidanni Owned by: team
Priority: normal Milestone:
Component: Core Version:
Keywords: Cc:

Description

When the user clicks Download he is presented with a Slippy Map tab,
the enclosing window of which only has an [X](close window) control in its upper right corner.
It should also have "_"(minimize), "[]" (maximize) too. Seen in Icewm on Debian.

Please add JOSM Status Report. A minimize icon is not expected for a modal window.

I cannot use the "Report Bug" button mentioned in that wiki article.

Because in the Debian version of JOSM it is just a hyperlink to https://www.debian.org/Bugs/ !!!!

Therefore I will merely attach a screenshot of the problem.

Please at least add a MAXIMIZE button.

Replying to jidanni:

The status report is required, you can copy and paste it here (or address your request to https://www.debian.org/Bugs/ instead).

There is an enlarge button in the top left corner of the map.

OK I found that Enlarge button.

But it only makes the map bigger a certain percent.

The user still can't find a fullsize button.

(It is rather frustrating to have a map without a standard fullsize
button if one needs it.)

Resolution: wontfix
Status: newclosed

That dialog is a modal dialog. It appears in front of the normal window. This is why it does not have a maximize button.

This is a design decision made by Swing / Java. Hacking in a maximize button would be pretty ugly. This is why we added the maximize button to the slippy map - it should maximize the download dialog to us all/most available screen space.

Minimize does not work because the dialog stays on top of JOSM and blocks interaction with the main window. It would confuse users if they cannot use JOSM.
