Replying to Don-vip:
If added it should come together with a validator warning according to osmwiki:Key:traffic_signals:direction
Note that this tagging is ambiguous in case the node belongs to more than one
highway=*! For this reason, use thetraffic_signals:direction=*tag only on nodes which are part of exactly onehighway. Avoid junction nodes and nodes between two ways as well (where they have been split, but are connected by a node). If in doubt, better simply insert a new node into the way which can be freshly tagged.
Or simply use direction which was and still is a valid alternative before someone invented a tag with restrictions of use on nodes only because it seemed to complicated to understand the existing, working tag and to code proper support for it.
