#12230 closed enhancement (wontfix)
mention that self-signed certificate might have to be accepted for remote control to work

Description
if trying to use remote control from an https website, at least on osm.org it will fail with a fairly unhelpful message "Editing failed - make sure JOSM or Merkaartor is loaded and the remote control option is enabled"
in the remote control page in josm settings, it might be helpful to mention that visiting https endpoint and allowing the self-signed cert in the browser could hep.
maybe even a link could be added to visit https://localhost:8112 for a quick relief

For overpass turbo, https://127.0.0.1:8112 needs to be visited as well...

What's the status of this? This hint is really helpful. The osm website is going to switch to https by default https://github.com/openstreetmap/operations/issues/117.
