Description
First, I want to congratulate and thank, particularly wiktorn, for the recent major JOSM improvements.
The following is in light of my constant, modest, best-I-can collaboration.
It is by running JOSM from Terminal, copying the output to an editor and selecting relevant HTTP source requests that I learned 6+ years ago much of how JOSM is working, that I diagnosed and reported buggy incompatibilities with some servers, that I requested corrections both sides and that the Wallonia (South Belgium) now enjoys a correct way of tagging.
Surprisingly, that very useful HTTP logging has been removed.
One can now see the HTTP requests only by using --debug
But --debug now overlays the window by text making the usage of JOSM very inconvenient.
In order to be capable of continuing such JOSM support as conveniently, I suggest
- principally that the text overlay be activated in an optional way (such as by a right-click menu entry)
- maybe that the non--debug HTTP log be restored.
Regarding the cache, I have also made convenient manipulations such as renaming it, trashing irrelevant tiles, comparing two kept copies of that for different conditions of the same JOSM runs and sending tiles to support (JOSM or others as a proof).
Unfortunately, the new cache format doesn't allow that any more.
A solution is welcome.
Does it use a well-known DB format? Which?
Thanks.
