Description
I was playing with MapPaint SVG POI symbols recently and noticed that any style="opacity: x;" or style="fill-opacity: x;" set in the SVG are ignored.
If this could be evaluated (I have no idea how complicated that is) it would enable a more flexible use of SVG symbols. For example, instead of shields (e.g. white background) one could switch to semi-transparent halos, which have much less impact in terms of obtrusiveness but still help in visibility over noisy background.
Evaluating fill-opacity might not be necessary, opacity should be sufficient. This might be a Java image library issue.
It seems that blaming JOSM for ignoring opacity was unjustified. Problem was with my SVG images. I apologise.
