mbtiles plugin has stopped working between JOSM release 8159 and 8279

Loading mbtiles files seems to have stopped working between JOSM version 8159 and 8279. This seems to be true for all mbtiles files; I've tried about four, on two different machines (one completely clean install).

This is still true for the latest dev version, 8465. Is there any log or debug output I could help you with to work on a fix? This is a high priority issue for us in the field (​http://ramanihuria.org/), since we're relying on mbtiles in the absence of workable internet access to access aerial imagery..

What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. Open an mbtiles file

What is the expected result?

A layer with the mbtiles data

What happens instead?

Nothing at all.
