Description
Recently JOSM has some problems on OSX regarding the GUI.
- When I pop up the search field, I can't enter text into the it (but I can select from previous searches from the pulldown menu, and they also get executed).
- When zoomed out (e.g. ca. 350m in the scale indicator), the handles for the nodes vanish and I can't move them any more, it will always move the whole way. Also the mouse icon will not swith to move nodes, select nodes etc. in this case. This might be intentional, but I don't find it works for me, where can I change this? (My suggestion would be to change it for everyone, but if this is intentional, and shall not be changed, I'd override it for me personally).
2b. this goes even so far that I can add new nodes into a way when zoomed out, but will not see them (if not indirectly by segment numbering) and I will not be able to select them until I zoom in. My suggestion is to not hide nodes if they are selected, or make this very less aggressive (factor 10).

thank you for pointing to this. Unfortunately java on OS-X is a nightmare, apparently I have several java versions installed in parallel and while the java-control panel in settings says: you are up to date, version 8, update 45, I do get another version in the terminal:
$ java -version java version "1.8.0_11" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_11-b12) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.11-b03, mixed mode)
I will cater now for this and let you know.

Did you succeed to cleanup the situation with multiple Java runtimes? I'm sorry I cannot help you on that matter: OSX for Java is indeed a nightmare ;)

I did update the jdk because I didn't want to retry solving the true issue behind the problem with updates (multiple versions installed), and JOSM is using the jdk-version on my computer. The issues have been partly solved by this update, but I haven't yet have time to finish testing.

Looks as if the newer JAVA Version has resolved as the issues I have described above, closing it now.
