<sign ref="BE:M11"
was changed to <sign ref="BE:GXI"
. Could you please explain? What happend to https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Belgian_road_sign_M11.svg?

This reference to M11 was incorrect. M11 is actually another, rather new sign, allowing for speed pedelecs. You can verify this by doing a image search for the keywords "onderbord M11". I gave the original M11 a new reference, GXI, based on the filename of an image I found on www.wegcode.be

The wikimedia file has been uploaded on 1 August 2010. At that time, the current M11 sign did not exist yet.

So is this sign in use in belgium? If yes, then we should rename the png file, if not then we should remove the part in the xml.

The rename request at Wikimedia Commons is sent. I will post back here when the rename is finished.

With renaming I rather meant the file in the plugin https://trac.openstreetmap.org/browser/subversion/applications/editors/josm/plugins/roadsigns/images/BE/BE_M11.png
So is this sign in use in Belgium and is GXI the official traffic sign code?

The sign is in use in Belgium.
But GXI is not the official traffic sign code. It is described in art 65.6 (https://www.wegcode.be/wetteksten/secties/kb/wegcode/248-art65) but without official reference.
I gave it this reference based on the filename of the image I found on www.wegcode.be (https://wegcode.be/images/stories/verkeerstekens/divers/GXI.png). This is an official government website with the traffic laws.
This sign also has no implications on any other tags. If a mapper would map it using the plugin, it would only be used to indicate the presence of that specific traffic sign. As we don't have an official reference, it might be better to remove it from the plugin. Agreed?

I removed the GXI part in the xml file and renamed the png file anyway for possible future use.
I'm working on a "roadsignpresetBE.xml" file that has all the new changes and that could be merged. I'll keep you updated.
