#561 closed enhancement (wontfix)

align nodes: align to the two ends rather than the average

Description

When you select several nodes and select the menu option to align them, it's hard to control exactly what you are going to get. I would like an option (which probably ought to be the default) to align the nodes between the first and last nodes to a line segment going between those two ends.

Just for clarification: The nodes are currently aligned to a line between the two nodes that are the furthest apart. (So if you want to align the nodes to another line you just need to add two far away nodes and select them. Then the nodes will be aligned on a line between those far away nodes.)

Furthermore I don't have an idea how to figure out which node is the first and which the last (due to technical issues you can't figure out in what order the nodes were selected, and everything else is just guesswork).
