Validator fixing duplicated nodes unexpected slow

JOSM Validator Plugin -> Duplicate nodes -> Fix. gets exponentially slower with the more nodes are involved.

While this is expected, the degree of time seems unusual.

I suspect the algorithm uses is faulty or has a scaling flaw.
