Unable to add selection to a relation

Description

  1. Create two ways (tagged highway=motorway)
  2. Have them selected
  3. Click "New relation"
  4. The two ways appear in the right "Selection" pane of the relation editor

But when I click the buttons to add the selection to the relation nothing happens (they don't get moved to the right pane).

This is on Sun Java on Ubuntu 9.04.
