tcx import is broken in version 1788

Description
I have updated to the "tested" JOSM version 1788. After first start I got a notification that the tcx import plugin is not needed any longer. After JOSM restart I didn't find a way how to import tcx files. The obvious way "File open" doesn't work. It also doesn't report any error that something went wrong or that the file format is incorrect.

Is it still an issue? I know transition from one plugin to another could be communicated better but there's no official channel to distribute such news to customers.

After activation of the dataimport plugin tcx import works with "file open". How should an ordinary user know that, after getting the note (German:) "tcx Import plugin wird nicht mehr benötigt"?
