segment description lost when converting selected segments to ways

Sometimes I have a string of segments selected and give them tags, for a motorway e. g. up to 8 different tags. Then I notice that I forgot to convert them to ways before annotating them. When I then convert the segments to ways, all the annotations are lost and I have to re-enter them again. Would it be possible to prevent me from annotating segments (e.g. warning message) or keep the annotations while converting segments to ways? Thanks, I could work more efficient if this could be fixed. thx, Longbow4u
