#1527 closed enhancement (wontfix)

Automatically copy link from the clipboard to download map data window

Description

I copy links from the browser often. If JOSM on opening the download data window will automatically paste the clipboard content into the link area - this would be handy.

May be check first if there is something link-like in the clipboard.

This would not be a good idea usability wise - it is very uncommon that software automatically reacts to clipboard contents, and would confuse people.

Why is it a problem for you to use the middle mouse button or Ctrl-V or whatever your OS's normal way of pasting something is? I'd rather make *that* easier than build in some magic. - If you read this and have a suggestion, then re-open the ticket and add it.

Thanks for giving it a thought, this was just a suggestion. Of course it is ok to paste the copied link from the clipboard, this is what I do. It's just when you do multiple editing over large areas and have to paste like 100 times it gets boring.

I don't think it would be confusing, if you can check validity of the link in the clipboard on opening download dialog and paste the automatically, it would be not very much different than the text which is already there, but minus two extra steps (activate the link area and paste).

Anyway it's you call, I won't insist here :)
