Questo strumento si comporta in modo diverso a seconda di come lo si utilizza.

== Modo standard ==

* Se si fa clic su un'area vuota dello schermo si aggiunge un nuovo nodo indipendente da qualsiasi strada esistente.

* Se si seleziona un nodo finale di un tracciato e poi si fa clic su un'area vuota dello schermo si aggiunge un nuovo nodo, allungando il tracciato esistente.

* Se nessun nodo è selezionato in precedenza e si fa clic tra due nodi (o comunque molto vicino) a un tracciato esistente, si aggiunge il nuovo nodo tra due esistenti. Se è un punto in cui si incrociano due tracciati (ma non esiste attualmente alcun nodo in comune), e si fa clic vicino all'incrocio delle due "way", allora il nodo sarà inserito in entrambi i tracciati, che d'ora in poi quindi avranno un punto comune.

* Se un nodo viene selezionato in precedenza e si sceglie tra due nodi il tracciato esistente il nuovo nodo viene aggiunto sulla strada esistente, tra due nodi esistenti, e un modo viene disegnata tra il nodo precedentemente selezionato e il nuovo nodo.

* Se si fa clic in prossimità di un nodo esistente che disegna un "segmento" tra ciò che è stato precedentemente selezionato e il nodo esistente, e questo consente di riutilizzare i nodi esistenti per fare un nuovo modo / zona (in modo che alcuni nodi e di "segmenti" possono essere riutilizzati in più di un modo / area).

== Alt modifier ==

If you hold down the {{{Alt}}} key when using this tool it starts a new way, rather than continuing an existing way.

== Shift modifier ==

If you hold down the {{{Shift}}} key whilst using this tool it disables the "auto-connect" feature.  So segments will not be drawn between new nodes.

== Ctrl modifier ==

If you hold down the {{{Ctrl}}} key whilst using this tool it disables the snapping to an existing way, allowing you to draw nodes close to, but not part of an existing way.

== Note ==

There is another way to add nodes.

When you zoom in to higher resolutions you will note that on a way, between a pair of nodes, there is a {{{+}}} symbol.  If you drag this with the mouse it automatically becomes a new node. Using this method it is very easy to modify an existing way.
