== Software requirements ==

JOSM requires a recent version of [https://www.java.com/en/download/ Java 7] runtime environment to be installed on your computer.

JOSM is also compatible with '''Java 8''' or later.

If you have only Java 5/6 and cannot update, there are older versions of JOSM available: Versions [https://josm.openstreetmap.de/download/josm-snapshot-3377.jar 3377] and below run with Java 5. Versions [https://josm.openstreetmap.de/download/josm-snapshot-7000.jar 7000] and below run with Java 6. Old versions of JOSM, including Mac and Windows installers, are available in the [https://josm.openstreetmap.de/download/ download archive].

If you have only an old version of Java 7 (older than '''update 25''', released in June 2013), you can run the latest version of JOSM, but you may face one of the following Java bugs. To get rid of it, please perform the corresponding update actions.
