On my Windows XP and Windows 7 it is enough to press CTRL while dragging the node, then dragged node is changed every time mouse cursor passes near virtual node (red cross), reproducion is very easy, see the video: http://screencast.com/t/GKFJ3KoU1 Yes, that is how it works.
