Layer color and opacity

I am working with importing data through JOSM, the data I have are extracted from AutoCAD files and converted to osm.xml, than split according to layers. It would be an adventage for me to enable coloring and opacity/transparency on the various levels, for example footway layer raw data can be red, cycleway layer blue, roads layer yellow, etc. JOSM doesn't need to remember colors chosen or the opacity, though it wouldn't hurt if it could.

At the moment I can only have one layer visible at any time to work correctly. The entire import contains 158 layers, and the where layers overleap some data might be lost in one layer. For this reason coloring and opacity would be helping in the import.
