What exactly would you like to see printed? All the current downloaded data? All visible layers? Including WMS layers as background?
What#s you use-case for a printout? Maybe www.walking-papers.org will do the trick for you.

Like many softwares, I want to have the possibility to go to File/Print

Select : display or select a window to print
Choose the print configuration size/orientation/quality
And print.

Layers set as visible will be printed.

Walking-papers.org depends on rendering state of layers.
Sometimes it cannot wait for several weeks to catch up.
Printing just an outline of selected layer (or all layers, a checkbox for that) would be very useful, for mapping parties and for navigation.
Especially because one can download, rotate and print. You cannot rotate raster in walking-papers.

I released a print plugin last weekend. It adds a print button to the File menu. It fills a printed page with the current view. Some temporary adjustments are made to zoom and preferences in order to get a nice result.
