**Paste the contents of the clipboard,** \\
at the mouse pointer position into the [wikitr:/Help/Dialog/LayerList#ActivateLayer active data layer]:
* all nodes and parent objects will be preserved as they were selected (relative position is kept)
* links in the data (''node-way'', ''way-relation'' and ''node-relation'') will be respected only if they were [wikitr:/Help/Dialog/SelectionList#Selection selected]; cloned objects will have (new) links similar to copied objects


== Pasting URLs ==#PastingobjectURL
When you have an open [wikitr:/Help/Dialog/LayerList osm data layer] and you paste an URL the objects or file from the URL will be [wikitr:"/Help/Downloading data" downloaded], by default to the current active data layer. This is a shortcut for [[JOSMImage(openlocation)]] [wikitr:/Help/Action/OpenLocation Open Location] and the previously used optional settings are respected.
