Dropdown menus require offset cursor

I am running JOSM 6238 on openSUSE 12.3 (x86_64) with IcedTea 2.4.1. Since I switched to openSUSE from an Ubuntu derivative, I have had problems with the drop down menus in JOSM. When I click to open them I am forced to move my cursor some distance off the menu to keep them open. I must move even further to the right if I wish to open sub-menus.

Here are the results from java -showversion:
java version "1.7.0_40"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.4.1) (suse-8.18.1-x86_64)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.0-b50, mixed mode)

No problems here with an older version:

$ java -showversion

Has someone access to a newer one? Could it be caused by openSUSE specific patches?

Well, looks like a problem with Gnome 3.6 then. Not sure if it is a problem of the SUSE rpm or upstream.

Please ​fill a bug report about it.

A Gnome problem?. Now I have this problem too after upgrading to Gnome 3.8 on Debian.

But interestingly other Java applications don't have this issue. I tried jftp, jedit and jdownloader and not a single of them requires these strange offsets on drop-down menus and widgets.
