It turns red. You select ""Tools-->UnGlue Ways"". They are now unglued and the node(s) are still red. You pull on the node(s) to move the ways apart. They act as if they are still glued together - counterintuitive for beginners like myself - it looks like nothing has happened. You MUST deselect the node first and then start pulling at the node(s) to see that the ways are in fact unglued.
