Some time between the last 'tested' (sorry, can't remember which version) and the current 'tested' v1981 the screen rendering in JOSM has become broken.  Attached is a screenshot so you can see I get only the top quarter or so of the map.

I downloaded many versions from your website to localise the fault.  v1822 is OK and v1823 is broken.  I also tried the very latest (v1992) and it is still broken.  I have removed all plugins (I only had a few) but this does not make the bug go away.  What else can I tell you?

I am running Java 1.6.0_0 on Linux 2.6.27 (Mepis 8.0).  Until I decided to use v1981 everything had been running fine.  Sorry."	defect	closed	normal		Core		duplicate
