Press shortcut for ""Paste tags"". Even though the way is selected, nothing is pasted - if you want the paste to work, you have to exit the ""N"" mode and select the way again.

This worked fine with older JOSM version - applying ""Paste tags"" in middle of drawing resulted in pasting the tags to the way and then you were able to continue drawing if you wish.

Same problem is, if you press ""N"", then click inside a way to split it by adding a node, then you press P to split the way in two parts. In older JOSM version, the way was split, in newer, this does not work, even though the node is selected (and you see rubberband going from it)."	defect	closed	major		Core	latest	fixed
