1. open printing dialog
1. Within ""Printer settings"" -> ""Appearance"" try to set the color.

Monochrome should always be choose-able and color should only be an option for color printers 
==== What happens instead?
Monochrome is always disabled and color is always enabled even for only grey scale printers.
